Attractions in and around Liverpool
The Albert Dock: The most important sight of Liverpool is surely the Albert Dock, which was opened more than 150 years ago by prince Albert and nowadays is the symbol of the golden age of the city that used to be the port of international importance. Nowadays in the enormous Albert Dock take place various shops, cafes, bars, restaurants and museums, among which there is the Tate Modern Art Gallery and the Merseyside maritime Museum. Not far from the Albert Dock you can see the Head Pier. It is a place for Royal Liver Buildings and the legendary Liver bird (the symbol of Liverpool). There one can have a voyage, so as to enjoy the wonderful view on the city.
The Merseyside Maritime Museum: The Merseyside Maritime Museum tells us about everything that is connected with shipping and port life, it also informs about the history of the largest ports in the world and shows how important they used to be. The port often became the symbol of new life: for one it turned to the best, for other – to the worst. The museum takes place in the Albert Dock.
The Anglican Cathedral: The Anglican Cathedral is the biggest cathedral in Great Britain and fifth largest in the world. Surely it's one of the greatest sights in Liverpool. It's located a little bit aside from the center. From the towers of the cathedral one can enjoy the beautiful view on the city; by the way, getting there is absolutely free.

Mathew Street: In Mathew Street the career of legendary 'The Beatles' started. Nowadays everything there is connected with the Liverpool band. There is the monument of John Lennon, the old Cavern Club, where 'The Beatles' had their first concert, the shop totally devoted to them. Also in Mathew Street takes place The Grapes Pub, where the musicians used to spend time. At present day Mathew Street is a popular place with a great number of bars, clubs and pubs.
Museums
St George's Hall: St George's Hall is likely to be the most fascinating place in Liverpool, at least if to speak about the inside decoration. It's situated in Lime Street. They built the Hall in 1838-1854, so it consists of the court room, ball room and concert hall. For a long time it had been restored and opened only in 2007.
Erie Canal Museum: Designed to weigh canal boats for assessing a toll, this building is reputedly the only surviving structure of its kind in the country. The museum features a full-size canal boat replica; artifacts, maps and images detailing Erie Canal construction and early canal life; a penny-postcard arcade; changing exhibits; and the Syracuse Heritage Area Visitor Center.
Everson Museum of Art (Syracuse, NY): Everson Museum of Art displays American paintings and sculpture from Colonial times to the present, and a large ceramics collection. The museum also displays changing exhibits. Call (315) 474-6064 for more information.
Salt Museum in Onondaga Lake Park: Onondaga Lake Park extends 6 mi. along the eastern shore of Onondaga Lake. Features include a visitor center, dog park, skate park, marina, boat launch and athletic fields as well as the original Salt Spring and the Jesuit Well. The Salt Museum contains a replica of a 19th-century salt boiling block and other artifacts. Tram rides and inline skate and bicycle rentals are available mid-May through Columbus Day. Picnicking is permitted.
Sports Related Attractions
The Liverpool Stadium: The home stadium of FC Liverpool is one of the most famous stadiums in the world. Everyday once an hour there are excursions, during which you and another 49 lucky men can visit the cloakrooms, press-halls and walk along the football field. You'd better book the tickets for the excursion in advance, because usually in a week all the tickets are already bought. The museum of the stadium is opened any time, but to buy a ticket for a match is almost impossible.
FC Everton maybe is not so much well-known as FC Liverpool, but the atmosphere on the football ground is not less catching, so it's worth going to a match with FC Everton. Usually at the day of the match there are still some tickets. In any way, the stadium itself, named 'Goodison Park' is a fantastic sport place. Plastic chairs, for example, as many years ago take place on the wooden staircases. More than that, one watch the game just at close quarters, what, actually, is a unique thing.

Activities in Liverpool
Shopping: Liverpool is one of the best places for shopping: the trade area there is very compact and manly is a pedestrian zone. The most of the shops are located along Church Street. If you are looking for something special you should necessarily visit the 'Bluecoat Chambers', where you'll find handmade art objects. If you like designer clothes go to Cavern Walks, retro style things, antiques will be found in the Quiggis Centre.
Swimming: You can enjoy swimming at Municipal Swimming Pool while you are vacationing in Liverpool.
Wildlife Watching
You will definitely enjoy the Rosamond Gifford Zoo at Burnet Park that displays domestic and exotic animals in simulated natural settings. Elephants are exhibited daily (weather permitting) and there is a Siberian tiger exhibit. The veterinary clinic and kitchen can be viewed through windows.
